Noah and Eve woke up to the sound of something large approaching. They quickly realized that the rain had slowed to a sprinkle and the darkness of the night had given way to the light of dawn. But the approaching sound was not from the robotic creature they had feared earlier, it was something else entirely.

As they looked out the window, they saw a gang of scavengers and tech-savvy hackers slowly driving down the roadway. They operated crude but tiny drones for eyes higher to the sky, scanning for loot or unfortunates seeking shelter. The couple realized they had to run for their lives.

They quickly gathered their belongings and ran out of the abandoned and half ruined apartment, hoping to find a way to escape. They ran through the rain slick streets, the gang of scavengers and hackers close behind them.

As they reached the edge of the city, Noah knew that they couldn't both make it. He turned to Eve and told her to put the headphones on, to not look back, to just run. She was hesitant to leave him behind, but he insisted, telling her that he loved her and that he would do anything to keep her safe.

Eve put on the headphones and ran as fast as she could. She didn't look back, but she could hear the sound of the gang pursuing her. She ran until she reached the outskirts of the city, where she found a place to hide and catch her breath.

Hours passed, and there was no sign of Noah. She realized that he must have sacrificed himself to ensure her safety. She mourned the loss of her beloved, but she knew that he would have wanted her to keep going.

She took off the headphones and looked out at the wasteland before her. She knew that she had to keep moving forward, to survive in this harsh new world without Noah by her side.
